Hyderabad's Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGI) has been rated as the best airport in India, the fifth best regional airport in Asia and the eighth best airport in the 5-10 million passengers per annum capacity category. The ratings were given at the recently concluded Skytrax-World Airport Awards held at the Passenger Terminal Expo in Geneva.
In the category of the Best Airports in India, Hyderabad has been rated at No. 1 followed by IGIA, BIA, Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport and Chennai International Airport.
The World Airport Awards are based on the survey conducted on 12 million passengers in a 10-month period covering over 388 airports. The World Airport Awards are the global benchmark of Airport Excellence and Quality Ranking.
